ICTEducated Horizon is working to significantly increase the use of ICT across the carriculum in secondary education. We are not just putting a few computers into a few schools but instead developing with partners in Zimbabwe a complete system including educational content, distribution, teacher training and development and technical support. The aim is to have a proen system that can be rolled out across Zimbabwe as resources become available. |

GirlsRural teenage school girls are missing a week per month (quarter of the school term) due to lack of sanitary wear. Sanitary pads at USD $5 a pack, are too expensive for most girls whose parents are already struggling to pay school fees. The resultant failure of final exams is slowing down country wide efforts to improve ‘girl child’ education. |

ScienceEducated Horizon is helping rural schools of Zimbabwe to develop science teaching and to provide the related learning infrastructure. Writing physics and chemistry subjects without having done a single practical session/experiment has led to dismal pass rates and an eventual shortage of a science biased country graduate output (Doctors, engineers, etc.) |

BooksFor every 50 children, there is one text book! That’s the average student text book ratio is rural schools of Zimbabwe and some school O’Level exam pass rates are unsurprisingly pegged at zero % all the time. Educated Horizon is working to reduce this ratio down to a practical ‘2 to 1’ and helping with the provision of Library books. |

School FarmEducated Horizon is working with ST. Francis Of Assisi High School to help run the school farm with the sole aim of subsidising school fees for the local poor rural community. In addition, the farm provides the much needed employment to local parents whose children attend the very same school. The School and the Farm are located in rural Mashonaland Province 120km from the capital city of Zimbabwe, Harare. |

FeesFinancial constraints are the major reason why parents in rural Zimbabwe are failing to send their children to school. Increasing poverty levels mean going to school is now a luxury and there are more important immediate needs like the need for food hence children have to work in the fields. |
